Luis Marrero, better known as Funky among youth in Latin America and the United States, is a Puerto Rican rapper turning up the hip-hop heat in Reggaeton Christian music.
The start of Funky’s success came less than a year after he entered the Christian music arena when he landed a Latin Grammy nomination in 2003. His first live production in 2005, Live from Costa Rica, affirmed his position as a Christian rap leader on an international scale. In 2006, Funky toured Europe for the first time and performed more than 25 concerts in South America. The next year his song and video “Running to Win,” made history by gaining a place on the playlists of various music television channels including MTV Spanish, MTV Latin America, VH Uno, HTV and others.
