SERVE (and Volunteer)

Yakima Valley churches, businesses, and civic entities have been serving our area for years. Season of Service is a historic uniting of these entities to serve through a season of time together, showing our neighbors an unprecedented display of love. By serving, you open the door to inviting. And by inviting people to CityFest, you allow them to hear the life-changing message of the Gospel as presented by Luis Palau.

Season of Service (SOS)

Set a faith-sized goal for what percent of your congregation you would like to become involved in serving the community.

(If you are already serving, skip to step 2)

1.      Determine Your Service Project(s)

  • Determine the abilities, interests, giftings, and passions of your church.
  • Investigate different service project ideas that your church can organize and carry out. Review existing projects and explore new opportunities in your community. Download the Season of Service Emphasis Sheet for ideas.
  • Identify a project coordinator from your church to facilitate your project(s).

2.   Fill Out Your Plan for Partnership

3.   Launch Your Season of Service Project

  • Choose a date between April and August, 2010 to publicize your project with your congregation and recruit volunteers.

Your congregation can help make the festival a reality by serving through a variety of volunteer opportunities

Before the Festival Celebration Opportunities:

  • Office volunteers
  • Promotional materials distribution
  • Special events
  • Targeted outreach luncheons

At the Festival Celebration Opportunities:

  • Family Fun Zone
  • Volunteer and Counselor check-In
  • Prayer tent
  • Greeters
  • Security
  • Set-up
  • Merchandise
  • Clean-up
  • And more!

Onsite volunteer shifts are typically three to four hours long, making it possible to serve as both a volunteer and counselor. Volunteering is a great way for small groups, youth groups, and ministry teams to serve together.
